For me, the fun of this series has always been customizing the mech and that rings true here. It starts the same way, you have your mech and you have a set amount of credits to gear it out the way you want. I can see why some people may say that Armored Core Last Raven is far too similar to the last game. We get to decide which side of the war we want to be on and there are multiple endings as a result of this. There is a rival group called Vortex that is made up of various merceries and they are fighting against them. The world is still in tatters after what went down in the last game and the rivaling nations of that story have joined forces to become the Alliance. One of the reasons that I was excited to play Armored Core Last Raven when it was first released in 2004 was the story as it continued what was set in Armored Core Nexus. However, for those new to the franchise, I do have to say this would not be a good jumping in point if I am being honest. This is typical Armored Core action at its best and of course, that means if you like the series, you will like this. This is another entry in the long running series and what was neat about this one was that it is a direct sequel to the previous game and served as a continuation of the story. I had a lot of fun with Armored Core Last Raven when it was released on the ps 2 back in the day.
